Welcome to the Sescheke Kennel!!! The home of Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Whippets & our l
atest Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund...

We live in the charming Capital City of Edinburgh, Scotland. I am 16 years old and I live
with my Mum, Linda. I live in the centre of Edinburgh, minutes from the beautiful Princes Street Gardens. We have some lovely walks nearby, although however, we travel by car to beautiful woodlands and parks, within this beautiful City, (as you will see on our 'Favourite Walks' page).
I have grown up with dogs all my life. We began looking at different breeds, having owned
Dobermanns, Golden Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels and Whippets etc. When I was 9 years old we travelled the shows our first being SKC championship show, to look at Great Danes, this being the breed that I would love to own. We became friends with a Dane breeder and travelled with her, I even had a taste of showing a Great Dane, as can be seen below, this was the start of my ambition for showing. Although we were keen for having a Great Dane, it was just not the right time, however I would love to own one one day!!!
My early days of handling!!!
We then decided to get in touch with The Scottish Kennel Club and ordered a show diary of
all the show dates etc. We decided to look at other breeds at the local and championship shows to see what we liked.
There was something about Rhodesian Ridgebacks that caught our eye, they are a very
handsome and upstanding breed, we decided to do our research and attend fundays, club shows, RRCS walks, visiting breeders and reading books on the breed etc. After a long and patient wait for the right puppy, Phoebe moved in with Stella our Whippet and our two cats Abu & Kissie.
My first Rhodesian Ridgeback being Phoebe (Manzili Maskhara Sh.CM) who has enjoyed
numerous success in the show ring both at open and championship show level. Phoebe has also gained her Show Certificate of Merit having won BOB's & Group placings at open shows... I began showing Phoebe when I was 12 years old, winning her first RESERVE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE, in Junior at the age of 15 months old... (see photo below)

A young Phoebe winning her first R.C.C.
Phoebe then in 2006 was awarded her first CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE at the age of 28 months... Phoebe is the fun factor of the Sescheke gang, who loves to have fun when not in the ring. Phoebe's brother Rosco (Manzili Mori) is out of the same litter as phoebe and is owned by my aunt Joanne, Rosco has also done consistantly well during his show career, handled by myself also. Rosco is the lazzy one of the Sescheke gang who would rather sleep than play!!! Both Phoebe & Rosco have gained thier Stud Book Number, which qualifys them for Crufts for life!!! Phoebe & Rosco are both 4 1/2 years old at present (2008). They were bred by Sandra & Stephen McMillian the Manzili Kennel.

Then There Were Three...
This is the thing with Ridgebacks, you start of with one and end up with...MORE!!!

Along came Teddy (Sonstraal Gabe's Prospect At Sescheke JW Sh.CM) My Mum was kind
enough to allow me to own my own dog, this being Teddy, However, this would not be possible without Sharon Rossiter & Anthea Fox (Sonstraal Kennel) who allowed me to have such a wonderful dog, easy going with a superb temperament!!! Who took me to a whole different level in dog showing!!! Teddy is 2 1/2 years old and has achieved so much at such a young age... Teddy gained his Junior Warrant at the age of 16 months, Teddy also gained his Show Certificate of Merit, having won BOB's & Group placings at open shows... On the 5th of August 2008, at Paington Championship Show was awarded his first CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE & BEST OF BREED from International All Round Judge Mr Jeff Horswell, Teddy then went on to win HOUND GROUP 2, under all round judge Mr Robin Searle... THIS IS A DAY TO REMEMBER!!!
Then Number 4...
Peaches (Sonstraal Chocolate Drop) is the baby of the RR's, she is 1 year old, and was bred by
Sharon Rossiter & Anthea Fox. Peaches has just started her show career, and is a pleasure to show, who is showing promise... Peaches has a sweet lovable nature, who loves to please everyone... Her best friend is Otto, they have such fun together, she is such a livewire!!!

Peaches having a blast!!!
And finally... For the time being!!!
Along came Otto, a Miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund. For the past year or so we have been
looking at Mini longs and Mini wires, however we decided on a Mini wire., as they are full of character, with an extremely outgoing personality, which we love! Otto will hit the show rings late 2008...
And finally Otto in the plant pot...
